In March of 2010, El Viento invited our eleventh group of twenty-five fourth graders into our program. This is a significant milestone for us as our program now serves close to 250 students and their families. The inductees were welcomed into the program by our Flight 10 fifth graders and the event was captured in an article by the Huntington Beach Independent. In 2006, our first class of fourth graders graduated from high school and entered college. This group of El Viento graduates is now preparing to graduate from college this June, 2010. The example that these students are setting for other El Viento participants is both challenging and rewarding. Their success is the community's success and a testament to the effectiveness of community involvement, participation, and leadership. June 2008 we saw our second group of students graduate from high school and begin the transition of entering college in the fall. This noteworthy accomplishment further impacted the lives not only of our students, but also the lives of their families and the community at large. We are very proud of these successes and look forward to celebrating many more in the future! This June, 2010, we have our third flight of students graduating from high school and the El Viento program. We congratulate them on this accomplishment and wish them well in their future endeavors. Attached is a list of their college plans for the Fall of 2010. |
